DLSC Hosts Annual Family BBQ Dinner

On March 11, dozens of volunteers, staff, board members and families filled the Clayton T. Lester Crew Hall for the Annual Family BBQ Dinner.

"We appreciate the work you all do each and every day," Chief Robbie Woodall said before Chaplain Odell Tate blessed the food. "We wouldn't be where we are today without the continued support from all of our volunteers, staff and community members."

City and county personnel also joined the rescue squad for dinner. Vice Mayor Lee Vogler, City Manager Ken Larking and Council-members Adam Tomer, Madison Whittle, James Buckner and Gary Miller were in attendance Monday evening. Additionally, Chris Slemp, the director of public safety for Pittsylvania County, and Michael Lea, deputy director of public safety, joined the Crew for dinner.

Danville Life Saving Crew appreciates the support it continually receives from City and County officials, community partners and its personnel.

"We thank you all for joining us tonight," Woodall said, "We are glad to see so many familiar faces from the community and Crew members who have served our organization throughout the last few decades."

This September, Danville Life Saving Crew will celebrate its 74th year providing emergency medical services to the community.
