80 Years Strong — Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Since 1945, the Danville Life Saving Crew has answered every call with one promise:

When minutes matter, help will come.

What began with a handful of local volunteers and a converted bread truck has grown into a highly trained, full-service emergency medical response agency serving Danville and Pittsylvania County. For 80 years, our community has stood behind the Crew — from auto dealers loaning vehicles in the 1960s, to the Civitan Club rallying neighbors to collect 9 million trading stamps for a new transport unit in 1971.

You have always helped keep the Crew on the road. And now, as we celebrate our 80th Anniversary, we’re asking our community to come together once more.

Help Fund the Next Ambulance for Eastside Station

To continue responding quickly and effectively across our growing service area, we are working to place a new, fully equipped ambulance at our Eastside Station. Modern ambulances are advanced medical units — carrying cardiac monitors, ventilators, power stretchers, radios, medications, safety systems, and more.

A fully equipped ambulance today costs nearly $500,000.

Your gift helps ensure this new unit is ready to serve — so that when someone in our community calls for help, the Crew is already on the way.

When you make your 80th anniversary gift by December 31, you are:

  • Strengthening emergency readiness in Danville and Pittsylvania County

  • Supporting the crews who respond day and night when minutes matter

  • Continuing a proud local tradition of community-funded ambulances

  • Helping save lives — maybe even someone you know and love

This is our story — a story of neighbors helping neighbors.  Let’s write the next chapter together.
