DLSC Calls Sky Rocket Over 5 Years


In 2013, during the month of July, Danville Life Saving Crew answered 466 emergency calls. Fast forward five years to July 2018: Danville Life Saving Crew volunteers and Northside staff answered 813 calls. Within five years, DLSC experienced a 74.46% monthly increase in 9-1-1 calls.

During July 2018, DLSC answered calls for 45 motor vehicle crashes, 15 assaults, 3 fire standbys, 726 medical emergencies, and 24 other types of emergencies. DLSC currently answers all 9-1-1 calls in the City of Danville and assists in mutual-aid calls in surrounding areas when needed. By the end of 2018, DLSC is expected to answer approximately 10,000 calls, a number not seen in over a decade.

Danville Life Saving Crew is comprised of over 100 volunteers who are highly trained in emergency medical services. Additionally, the Danville Area Training Center supplies Northside Staff members to run emergency calls as well.
