Ringgold Fire & Rescue purchases truck from DLSC

Ringgold-DLSC-keysDanville Life Saving Crew Chief Robbie Woodall hands Ringgold Fire & Rescue Chief Mike Neal the keys to the medium duty Crash Truck. Ringgold recently purchased the fully equipped vehicle from the Crew. Accepting the check is Keister Whitt, Deputy Chief of DLSC and Training Captain of RVF&R.

VAVRS Convention – Virginia Beach

The Danville Life Saving Crew’s Dive Team won First Place in the recent Dive Competition held at the Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads (VAVRS) held in September, 2011. They successfully managed three “problems” which started with an underwater search. The Shore Captain was then intentionally pulled and had to complete a written dive test and then work a navigation problem. Then, the remainder of the team was informed they had to rescue a diver in a quarry trapped underwater by a rock.

Helicopter Transports

helicopter-smallSome of the calls the Danville Life Saving Crew handles involves a helicopter transfer to a major medical center. Major trauma, head injuries, and burns are examples of patients that require extensive care in a specialty unit. Some of these patients are flown directly from the scene. Most are transported to the Danville Regional Medical Center before being flow out to Duke, The University of Virginia, UNC-Chapel Hill, Centra, Carillon or Wake Forest.
