Tommy PruettTommy Pruett is a Life Member of the Danville Life Saving Crew with 34 years of service. He is currently an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Instructor, and has taught EMT classes for the Crew, the Danville Area Training Center, the Danville Fire Department, the Goodyear Emergency Response Brigade, and Danville Community College, just to name a few. He is also an American Heart Association (AHA) CPR Instructor as well as an AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor, teaching at the Danville Area Training Center and the Danville Regional Medical Center. He served 3 terms as the Crew’s Training Officer and currently serves as the Executive Director. He is a past Paramedic and holds an Associates, Bachelors, and Masters degree. Keister WhittKeister Whitt is a Life Member of the Danville Life Saving Crew with 33 years of active service. He served terms as Captain (now Chief), First Lieutenant (now Deputy Chief), Crew Secretary and as Captain in Communications, Building and Grounds, Training, Water and is the only active member to have held the office of Board President. He is currently certified as a National Registered EMT-Paramedic, ALS Coordinator and serves on the crew’s Extrication Team. He has taught ALS classes for the Crew, the Danville Area Training Center and Ringgold Fire and Rescue and is a former ACLS instructor and PEPP instructor. He was the coordinator and lead instructor of the last two EMT- Cardiac Technicians programs offered by the Crew. Keister also taught Incident Management and Mass Casualty Classes at VAVRS Rescue College for several years and was a co-presenter at the Virginia Office of EMS Symposium, presenting a program on the crew’s “Rescue Camp”. He also was the founder and editor of the Danville Life Saving Crew’s newsletter “The Crew’s News” for six years Eric ClarkEric Clark joined the Danville Life Saving Crew in 2009, but he has been actively volunteering with various Fire and EMS agencies in North Carolina and Virginia for 16+ years. He served in the United States Navy for 4 years as a Hospital Corpsman/Field Medical Service Technician (Combat Medic), and he is currently a National Registered Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic, Tactical Medic (EMT-T) and a Firefighter II in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Eric has been training, precepting and mentoring new EMTs and Advanced Life Support personnel for most of his career in agencies throughout Henry County, Pittsylvania County and the City of Danville. He is an American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor, teaching at the Danville Area Training Center and the Danville Regional Medical Center. He earned his A.S. in Science from Danville Community College and his B.S. in Biomedical Science from Averett University. He is self-employed as a Clinical Research Consultant. Brian AldersonBrian Alderson is a 25 year member of the Danville Life Saving Crew. He has served in various offices of the DLSC, including Captain (now called Chief). Alderson has served with the City of Danville since 1985 and is currently a Captain in the Danville Fire Department. Seven of those years he was the shift training officer. Brian has been an EMT Instructor since 1995. He is also a Va. Dept. of Fire Programs Instructor as well as an AHA CPR Instructor. He is also certified as a NIMS (National Incident Management System) Instructor. He has taught classes at the Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Fire Department, Goodyear Emergency Response Brigade, Danville Community College, and Danville Area Training Center. Brian graduated from GWHS and has an Associate’s Degree and a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science. Mike HopsonMike Hopson is a Life Member of the Danville Life Saving Crew with 28 years of service. He has served over 20 years in the Crew’s Training Department. As our first Program Director, he was instrumental in the Danville Area Training center receiving its Accreditation. He is currently an ALS Coordinator, and every year, teaches the Required Topics curriculum for ALS personnel. He is also an American Heart Association (AHA) CPR Instructor teaching at the Danville Area Training Center. He is an EMT- Paramedic and holds a Bachelors degree. James H. SatterfieldJames Satterfield has been an active volunteer in Pittsylvania County since 1996 with Laurel Grove Fire-Rescue. Employed by the City of Danville Fire Department since 2003, James is an active member on their Technical Rescue Team, serves as their EMS Instructor on A-shift, and works on various committees within the department. He is currently certified as a Nationally Registered EMT-Intermediate, an EMT Instructor and ALS Coordinator with the Virginia Office of EMS, CPR and First Aid Instructor through the American Heart Association, a Vehicle Rescue and EVOC Instructor through the Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads and an Adjunct Fire Instructor for the Virginia Department of Fire Programs where he holds numerous instructor credentials. James has taught various classes with the EMT Basic and Intermediate programs at the Danville Area Training Center for the past 5 years. He holds a A.A.S. degree from Danville Community College in Fire Science and is currently enrolled at Liberty University in their Bachelors Degree in Public Administration. Brian WilsonBrian Wilson is a Life Member with the Danville Life Saving Crew with 30 years of service. He has served five terms as the Captain of the Department of Training and Continued Education and has served two terms as Chief of the Department. Brian is currently certified as an Emergency Medical Technician – Intermediate and is certified to teach Advanced Cardiac Life Support with the American Heart Association and The American Safety and Health Institute, he is a CPR Instructor Trainer with the American Safety and Health Institute and a Basic Instructor with the American Heart Association. Brian is also certified as an Advanced Life Support Coordinator with the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services. Brian has taught basic and advanced courses for the agencies in the City of Danville and Pittsylvania County for 25 years. Brian works as the General Manager and Chairman of the Governing Body for Commonwealth Home Health Care and its subsidiaries and has been there for 27 years. He is a licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner with the Virginia Board of Medicine and currently serves as the Program Director for the Danville Area Training Center. Pam FordPam Ford began her EMS training in 1994 when she became certified as an emergency medical technician (EMT-B). In December of 1996, she joined the Danville Life Saving Crew to further establish her training as an emergency medical technician. In 2006 she became certified as a National Registered Paramedic and provides ALS care to the citizens of Danville and Pittsylvania County. She has served as training sergeant for the past three years assisting the training captain with Monday night training for the members of the Danville Life Saving Crew. She has provided instruction for the past two Intermediate Classes that have been held at the Danville Training Center, in Danville VA. She is an American Heart Association (AHA) CPR instructor and is the lead CPR instructor for the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Department. She worked for Danville Regional Medical Center for 20 plus years as a lab technician. She has been the medical supervisor in the jail for the Pittsylvania County Sherriff’s Office Department for the past four years. |
