The Danville Life Saving Crew is a volunteer organization that has been providing pre-hospital care and first aid to the citizens of Danville, VA since 1945. We also serve the southern part of Pittsylvania County, VA. Our volunteers are dedicated to providing the best possible care. The DLSC’s mission is to be the leader in providing pre-hospital care to the sick and injured. It is also our goal to provide superior training to our members and members of other agencies throughout the community, while providing opportunity for personal growth, career development and advancement for those who work in the EMS field.

Extrication Team
This highly trained team responds with two pieces of apparatus. One of the pieces being a medium duty crash truck that was built by Emergency-ONE (more commonly known as E-ONE) and is mounted on a Freightliner FL-80 chassis.

Approximately five years ago, the Danville Life Saving & First Aid Crew, Inc. (DLSC) began work on a program that would allow our organization to run more advanced electrocardiograms (“EKG’s”) in the field.

The Danville Life Saving Crew’s Dive Team won First Place in the recent Dive Competition held at the Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads (VAVRS) held in September, 2011. They successfully managed three “problems” which started with an underwater search. The Shore Captain was then intentionally pulled and had to complete a written dive test and then work a navigation problem. Then, the remainder of the team was informed they had to rescue a diver in a quarry trapped underwater by a rock. |
